BIG STEAM ENGINE

CHEYENNE, Wyo. _ It’s longer than two city buses, weighs more than a Boeing 747 fully loaded with passengers and can pull 16 Statues of Liberty over a mountain. The Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive rolled out of a Union Pacific restoration shop in Cheyenne over the weekend for a big debut after five years of restoration. _ KEMMERER FATALS _ Two people have died in a head-on collision involving two trucks in southwest Wyoming. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the crash occurred about 2:50 a.m. Monday on U.S. 30 east of Kemmerer when a westbound 2004 Volvo Conventional crossed into the eastbound lane where it collided with a 2017 Freightliner.

_ TOURISM ECONOMY-WYOMING _ An independent report states that visitors to Wyoming spent more than $3.8 billion in 2018, an increase of 6.8% from 2017. The report by Dean Runyan Associates released Monday by the Wyoming Office of Tourism shows a steady increase in traveler spending and visitor volume in the state since 2007.

_ ELK LAND PURCHASE _ About 160 acres of private land north of Yellowstone National Park has been purchased by the state of Montana for a wildlife management area.

_ MOUNT RUSHMORE-FIREWORKS _ Fireworks will return to Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota for the Fourth of July celebration in 2020. Mount Rushmore’s fireworks were discontinued after 2009 due to concerns related to the pine beetle infestation that increased fire concerns in the Black Hills National Forest. Moved national lines.
