Six file to seek Florence County school board seats

FLORENCE, S.C. – Six people have filed for the Florence school board elections that will be held on Nov. 6, according to SCvotes.org.

In District 1, incumbent Trisha Caulder has filed to run to retain Seat 6, Charles Foxe has filed to run for Seat 3, Hannah Parker and Terry Law Sr. have filed to run for Seat 8, and Kelvin Mitchell has filed to run for Seat 9.

Seats 3, 6, 8, and 9 on the Florence School District 1 Board of Trustees are up for election to four-year terms. There is also a special election to fill the currently vacant Seat 5. The term for Seat 5 expires in 2020.

In District 5, incumbent John Nesmith Sr. has filed to run for Seat 1.

Seats 1, 4, 7 on the Florence School District 5 Board of Trustees are up for election to three-year terms in District 5.

The SCvotes.org website does not list any filings for Florence School District 3. There are six seats up for election in District 3: Seats 1, 2, 3, 4B, 6, and 7B.

Filing for the school board elections will run until noon Aug. 15.

To file in the District 1 election, visit the Florence County Board of Voter Registration at 219 Third Loop Rd. For more information, call 843-665-3094. The statement of intention of candidacy form is also available at scvotes.org. The form will still need to be returned to the Florence County Board of Voter Registration.
