NAGOYA, Japan (AP) _ Japan's Yoshihiro Tsumuraya edged out Roberto Terezzi of Italy Saturday by just over one second to win the 31.6-mile International Cycle Road Race.

Tsumuraya was timed at one hour, five minutes, 29.59 seconds, an instant ahead of Terezzi's 1:05.30.65.

Patrick Schoovaerts of Belgium finished fourth while David Pots of the Netherlands came in sixth.

In the women's 20.55-mile race, Nathalie Pelletier of France edged China's Yan Yinhua by three-tenths of a second. Pelletier was clocked at 49 minutes, 22.69 seconds while Yan came in at at 49.22.72.

Elisabetta Guaggaroni of Italy took third, followed by Kelly Ann Carter of Canada in 49.22.99. Lisa Brambain of Britain finished fifth with 49.23.02.

The third and final series of the race will be held Sunday in Tokyo.
