Five Slightly Injured in Plane Evacuation After Bomb Hoax
GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) _ A hoax bomb threat prompted the hurried evacuation of a Delta Airlines jet and 15 passengers sliding down emergency chutes suffered minor scrapes, bumps and sprains, an airline official said.
Delta Flight 748 landed safely Friday afternoon at its scheduled stop, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, about 10 minutes after a telephoned bomb threat was received at the Delta reservations desk at Los Angeles International Airport, said airline spokesman Joe Licitra.
There were 230 passengers and 11 crew members aboard the flight that originated in Los Angeles. Those hurt were treated and released for minor injuries at local hospitals, Licitra said.
Bomb-sniffing dogs found no explosives on the Boeing 767, Licitra said, adding that the plane returned to service later that evening.
