NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say an 11-year-old Boston terrier that painfully wandered into an Orange County hospital last month has been euthanized.

The Orange County Register reports ( ) the dog, Pasha, had more than 300 tumors and an eye severely obstructed by an ulcer.

Orange County Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Malone said on Tuesday that the "irremediable pain and suffering" associated with Pasha's illness led to the decision to euthanize.

Pasha's owner, 52-year-old Mary Sodaro, is accused of using a rubber band to try and treat a tennis ball-sized tumor on Pasha's jaw and refusing medical care for the dog. The rubber band became embedded in the base of the tumor causing Pasha extreme pain.

Sodaro was charged with a felony count of cruelty to an animal and two misdemeanors.
