Woman killed, boy burned in Draper house fire
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A woman is dead and a child is seriously burned after a fire at a log home in Draper.
KUTV reports a family of five was inside when the blaze started after midnight on Tuesday.
Fire officials say the flames spread quickly, in the blaze that killed the grandmother. A 6-year-old boy was flown to Primary Children’s hospital with serious burns and smoke inhalation.
Authorities say construction in the area and a fire hydrant that wasn’t working made it more difficult to fight the fire. High overnight temperatures also led to a police officer and firefighter being treated for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
