Redskins Drop Robiskie and Fazio

January 12, 2001

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) _ Terry Robiskie, the interim coach of the Washington Redskins after Norv Turner was fired, has been dropped by Marty Schottenheimer.

Schottenheimer, hired last week as head coach, said Friday that Robiskie and linebackers coach Foge Fazio have been fired.

``Both Terry Robiskie and Foge Fazio are excellent coaches,″ Schottenheimer said. ``After much consideration, I’ve chosen to go in another direction.″

Schottenheimer also made his first hiring, bringing in longtime college assistant Hue Jackson to coach the running backs. Schottenheimer also announced that Mike Trgovac will continue coaching the defensive line, making him the only holdover from Turner’s staff.

Robiskie coached the final three games of the season, compiling a 1-2 record after Turner’s dismissal. On Monday, he interviewed with Schottenheimer for the position of receivers coach, one of his previous jobs under Turner.

Jackson spent the past four seasons as the offensive coordinator at Southern California. He also has coached at California, Arizona State and Pacific.
