HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police say one person has been killed and two others were wounded when an assailant fired shots through a motel room door and then fled.

Police say the triple shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. Police didn’t immediately announce any arrests.

Investigators are trying to determine a motive for the gunfire into a room on the upper level of a two-story motel.

Police say all three victims were in a room when the attacker shot through the door, which is accessible from the exterior of the structure. Officials say a critically wounded man died at the scene, while two injured women were transported to a hospital.

Names of the victims and further details weren’t immediately available.
