Since 1982, the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families (CHCF) provides programs that reach underserved, low- and moderate- income children and families throughout New York City and the home-based child care providers who serve them. The organization’s grassroots focus makes it one of the few Latino organizations in New York that combines direct service with policy work that amplifies minority voices at the local, state, and national levels. CHCF serves 5,171 individuals annually across New York City, and the mission of CHCF is to combine education, capacity-building, and advocacy to strengthen the support system and continuum of learning for children and youth.
Key recent accomplishments include being featured in the New York Post for the turnaround at the Bronx High School of Business; and releasing the report Safe Havens: Protecting and Supporting New York State’s Immigrant Students with The Education Trust and others.
