Rockslide Kills 3 Climbers
TOKYO (AP) _ Three Japanese climbers were killed and three others were injured when they were hit by falling rocks in the Japan Alps, police said Monday.
Two other people were missing, said a police official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
He said a rockslide struck the eight as they were climbing an 8,464-foot cliff Sunday afternoon.
The three injured climbers were rescued by 12 police and treated at a hospital, another official, Yasuhiko Nakajima, said.
The accident occurred in the Hida range of the Japan Alps.
