Jack’s Bar-B-Que “Music City White Sauce” Wins top honors in 2019 National Barbeque & Grilling Association Award of Excellence

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 16, 2019--Jack Cawthon, proprietor of Jack’s Bar-B-Que, a Nashville tradition since 1976, today announced that his Music City White Sauce won first place at the 2019 National Barbecue & Grilling Association Awards (NBBQA). The annual awards recognize the commercial side of Bar-B-Que. This year, the NBBQA awards were held in Kansas City, often considered the barbecue capital of the world.

Described as the “Barbeque King of Nashville,” Cawthon has earned numerous accolades throughout his career. He previously won “The Best Sauce on the Planet” by the American Royal in 2014 for Jack’s Bar-B-Que Texas Sweet Hot Sauce, besting more than 365 entries from 37 states, and the same award in 2004 for his Kansas City Style Barbeque sauce.

Cawthon opened his original restaurant on Nashville’s riverfront in 1990. After a forced relocation to make way for the Hard Rock Café, Jack’s Bar-B-Que moved to a new location at 416 Broadway where it remains today with its now iconic flying pigs neon sign. Since then, Jack’s Bar-B-Que has opened two additional storefronts in Nashville on West Trinity Lane in historic Talbot’s Corner and Charlotte Avenue.

Jack’s Bar-B-Que serves Tennessee pork shoulder, beef brisket, turkey, ribs, smoked sausage and smoked chicken. Patrons can choose from an array of traditional sides including baked beans, green beans, corn, baked apples, cole slaw and potato salad, and crowd favorite mac and cheese along with dessert options of chess pie or fudge pie. Jack’s Bar-B-Que is also available for catering meetings and events.
