Pope Prays for John F. Kennedy Jr.
QUART, Italy (AP) _ Pope John Paul II prayed Sunday for John F. Kennedy Jr. and recalled the tragic history of the family, the papal spokesman said.
The pope, vacationing in the Italian Alps near France, was informed about Kennedy, whose plane disappeared off Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., while flying with his wife and sister-in-law to a family wedding.
John Paul immediately said a prayer for him and for the entire family, telling aides ``this is only the latest tragedy that family has suffered,″ said spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls.
In particular, John Paul recalled the famous photograph of Kennedy, then 3 years old, at the 1963 funeral of his assassinated father, America’s only Roman Catholic president.
