Turn Your Back on the Dark Place
Whenever we consciously seek answers from our higher state of mind, we will always receive the answer. The universe is constantly sending us messages. They come in many forms -- through our friends and loved ones, through reactions from our actions and, most often, through our dreams. A new year often brings forth parts of us that no longer serve our highest interest, as well as what we can use to improve our overall well-being.
Dear Dream Retriever: In my dream, I am in a room and it is very dark, but I can make out a shadow in the corner of the room. I turn my back on it, and it appears in the corner I have turned to. I am then in my home and I am running around the house, turning lights on. When I get them all turned on, I am then back in the dark room with the shadow. The shadow comes toward me, and it is my good friend. (We have been on the outs due to her inability to stop her abusive traits. Not to go into detail, regardless of how much I have tried to help, I have been unsuccessful. I feel the need to distance myself from this. I am on the road to recovery and need to focus on me.) I turn and extend my hand to her, and she reaches for me and when she grabs my hand, she tries to pull me into the darkness rather than coming toward me. I jerk her toward me, and as I do, I wake myself up. -- Saving Grace
Dear Saving Grace: Grace needs to save herself, as do you. You are doing all the right things, which is why you are running around the house turning on all the lights. You are seeing yourself clearly and shedding light for the first time on all aspects of your life. The friend is not really her in the dream -- it is you, the part of you you do recognize and by whom you continue to feel threatened by -- which is why you were in the dark in the first place. As you continue your journey, it is important to remember what it was that dNew riverboat to ride the Mississippi in New Orleans, and include that in the healing process. Keep moving forward and best of luck in the new year with the new you.
