Chelmsford Kicks Off WinterFest Friday

CHELMSFORD -- The annual WinterFest celebration begins today, kicking off three days of wintry fun for all ages.

This year’s festivities feature many returning favorites, along with some new activities.

Among this year’s highlights:

n Scottish country dancing at the Chelmsford Community Center at 7 p.m. tonight. It’s free for first-time dancers, or $3 for returning dancers, with a $10 cap for families.

n Free public skates at the Chelmsford Forum tonight 8:30-10 p.m. and Sunday 2:20-3:30 p.m.

n Campfire, s’mores and more with Boy Scout Troop 75′s “Winter Survival” campout on the town common, Saturday 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

n Disney and super hero themed escape rooms by Boy Scout Venturing Crew 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saturday 10 a.m. -3 p.m.

n Central Cooperative Nursery School Winter Carnival at Central Congregational Church, Saturday 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

n Chowder Fest at the Senior Center, Saturday 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

n Girl Scout Troop #68172 Malt Shop at Journey Church on the Common, Saturday 12-3 p.m.

n Beatles tribute band HELP! performs at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts Saturday 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15 general admission or $10 for students.
