FITCHBURG -- Be PAWSitive: Therapy Pets and Community Education and Friends of Fitchburg DOGS, Inc announced that this year’s winner of the Dog License Awareness Poster Contest is Arabella Gomez.

The third-grader at Reingold Elementary School received a certificate, an artist’s portfolio for future work, and the commendation of Fitchburg School Committee last week.

“Arabella used colors so well, and her dog is very appealing,” said Be PAWSitive Director Sally Cragin, who also serves on the School Committee. “She told us she made it with its head to one side because it was sad and wanted a license.”

Arabella’s poster will be posted in all Fitchburg Public Schools, as well as at Fitchburg Municipal Offices. Be PAWSitive works to help educate school children and families in the region about pet care responsibility and offers regularly monthly programs at Fitchburg Public Library.

Next year, the contest will be open to Fitchburg Public School students in first through fourth grade. For more information about Be PAWSitive and Friends of Fitchburg Dogs, visit our Facebook pages.
