MARGUREITTE B. RATLIFF, 76, of St. Albans, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at the Hubbard Hospice House in South Charleston, W.Va. Margureitte was born Sept. 27, 1942, near Fort Spring, Greenbrier County, to the late Charles E. (Kiser/Cripple) Flack Sr., and Margureite Shires. Margureitte was one of 11 children. Of those 11 children, she is preceded in death by Charles E. Flack Jr., Ethel L. Adwell, Jacob H. Flack, Mary R. Blake, Glenna M. Aleshire, Carol J. Taylor and John W. Flack. She is survived by siblings Robert H. Flack, Anna M. Wong and Sidney E. Flack. Margureitte married Larry F. Ratliff on Dec. 23, 1959, in Pearisburg, Va. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary this year. Margureitte attended Mount Vernon School as a child and then went on to Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte. Her hobbies were sewing and wood work, but most of all, genealogy research. Margureitte touched many lives through her genealogy and brought many families together. She cherished her work almost as much as she cherished her family. Margureitte is survived by husband Larry Ratliff; daughter Sherry Ratliff Lilly; granddaughters Courtney Lilly (JasonMurphy) and Tiffany Lilly Reed (Brent Reed); great-grandchildren Aubrey Ray, Kaylen Reed, Ayden Reed and Adyson Reed; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family welcomes everyone to join them at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans on Thursday, Oct. 4. The viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and the service will start immediately after. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Mortuary in South Charleston for the arrangements.
