Bank of America set to add to banking cluster on lower Broadway

October 2, 2018

Bank of America has signed a lease to occupy two and a half floors of an office building under construction next to the Pearl, adding to what is set to become a cluster of banking firms on lower Broadway.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company plans to move into the offices by the third quarter of 2020, spokeswoman Britney Sheehan said in an email. It will be in a six-story office building that Pearl developer Silver Ventures is constructing next to a 10-story new headquarters for local credit union Credit Human.

Locally-based Jefferson Bank also plans to move its headquarters to the northeast corner of Broadway and Grayson street, across the street from where Bank of America’s offices will be.

“We’re also thrilled to be moving to one of the newest buildings in this growth area of town that has so much to offer our clients and employees,” said Vince Fertitta, Bank of America’s market president for San Antonio, in a statement.

Credit Human is building its new headquarters at the northwest corner of Broadway and Pearl Parkway with the help of $5.8 million in tax abatements and rebates from the city and $3 million in property tax abatements from the county.

Jefferson Bank hopes to build its new headquarters within the next five years on 1.7 acres of land it purchased in June, the company’s president Paul McSween told the Express-News last summer.
