Camden looking ahead to toboggan championships
CAMDEN, Maine (AP) — The Camden Snow Bowl in Maine is gearing up for the 2014 U.S. National Toboggan Championships.
The championship was founded 23 years ago. Since then it has become a major fundraiser for the municipally owned and operated Camden Snow Bowl and attracts people from all over the Northeast.
For some, it’s more silly than serious with participants dressing as crash test dummies and wearing other costumes while riding down the toboggan chute onto Hosmer Pond.
The number of teams is capped at 425. Organisers say registration is underway for the event that runs from Feb. 7-9.
