Scottville names finalists in city manager search
SCOTTVILLE — City officials in Scottville have narrowed their search to three leading candidates for the position of city manager: Courtney Magaluk from Shelby; James Van Ess from Grand Rapids; and Dale Stuart from Oakland Township in Southeast Michigan.
Interim City Manager Steve Brock, who was appointed by the city commission following the departure of Amy Williams, said the finalists were picked during a closed-session meeting reserved for reviewing candidates’ resumes on Wednesday, May 15.
Brock said the city received 20 applications in total, and that the search process, managed by the Michigan Municipal League, has gone smoothly.
“So far, so good,” Brock told the Daily News. “We’re pretty agreed on the three candidates, so that’s good.”
Brock said there is diversity in the top three candidates.
“They’re definitely different types of people,” he said.
The city commission will conduct interviews for the candidates during a special meeting starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at Scottville City Hall, 105 N. Main St. The first interview scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
The interviews will be open to the public.
