WEATHERFORD, Texas (AP) — A North Texas sheriff’s deputy has been shot in the leg while investigating a report of an illegal deer blind.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler says the two-year veteran of his department was shot while approaching the deer blind with a flashlight about 5:30 p.m. Monday. Fowler said the owner of land about 14 miles west of Fort Worth had reported a trespasser had set up a roost from which to hunt deer.

Fowler said that as the deputy approached the set up, he was shot in the leg. He said the black-clad shooter fled and is still being sought.
