India Bus Accidents Leave 58 Dead

AMRITSAR, India (AP) _ A bus crammed with wedding guests crashed on a mountain road in northern India today, killing the groom and 41 other people.

The bus swerved out of control and plunged into a gorge 170 miles southeast of Amritsar, police said. Another 31 people in the wedding party were seriously injured.

Two other bus accidents in northern Indian states today killed a total of 16 people.

A speeding passenger train hit a bus at an unguarded railroad crossing, killing 10 and injuring 32, Press Trust of India news agency reported. And police said a bus carrying paramilitary soldiers skidded on the wet road and fell down a mountain in Jammu-Kashmir state, killing six and injuring 36.
