Skater Scott Hamilton Becomes Father
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ World champion figure skater Scott Hamilton has earned a new title: Dad.
His wife, Tracie, gave birth to the couple’s first child late Tuesday, six years after Hamilton was successfully treated for testicular cancer.
Aidan McIntosh Hamilton weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces, according to a statement released by Hamilton’s publicist, Michael Sterling.
``It was an entirely naturally conceived birth,″ Sterling said.
Hamilton, 45, is a four-time U.S. national champion, a four-time world champion and 1984 Olympic gold medalist. He is now a skating show producer and television commentator and has several upcoming TV specials.
Hamilton was diagnosed with cancer in 1997 and treated with surgery and chemotherapy. He created the nonprofit cancer foundation Scott CARES.
He married 33-year-old Tracie Hamilton, a former nutritionist, last December in Malibu. The couple has homes in the Los Angeles suburb of Westlake Village and in Denver.
