BEIJING (AP) _ Floods and hailstorms killed 15 people and injured scores of others in northwest China's Qinghai province, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday.

Days of heavy rains triggered the floods that also damaged houses and left several people missing.

The floods inundated 332,000 acres of farmland and grassland and swept away more than 10,000 domestic animals, the report said. The damage affected 1,400 households in 30 villages.

Floods last year along the Yangtze River and in northeast China killed 4,125 people. China has since poured hundreds of millions of dollars into reinforcing and rebuilding flood embankments.
