Lowell triple shooting suspect held without bail
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — A Lowell man authorities say shot three men in a drug deal gone awry last month has been ordered held without bail.
Leroy Mey was held as a danger to society at a hearing Tuesday in Lowell District Court.
The 21-year-old Mey has pleaded not guilty to three counts of armed assault with intent to murder and firearms charges in connection with the Dec. 17 shooting than landed three men in the hospital. Police say they recovered 10 shell casings.
One victim told police that he and his friends drove to Lowell to buy $550 worth of marijuana from Mey.
The Sun (http://bit.ly/1dUVEkT ) reports that Mey’s defense attorney argued for house arrest, saying her client has a minimal criminal record and the only victims were engaging in alleged illegal activity.
