William Barr: Robert Mueller would not be involved in ‘a witch hunt’
Attorney General nominee William Barr said he believes special counsel Robert Mueller “would not be involved in a witch hunt.”
President Trump has repeatedly blasted Mr. Mueller’s probe into Russian interference as a partisan-driven “witch hunt.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican and Judiciary Committee chairman, asked Mr. Graham if he believed Mr. Mueller would engage in “a witch hunt.”
“I do not believe Mr. Mueller would be involved in a witch hunt,” Mr. Barr responded.
Mr. Barr also said he considers Mr. Mueller to be a fair-minded person, who he trusts to be fair to the president and the country as a whole.
Mr. Barr also said he has “a very high opinion” of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing the Mueller probe.
