A date with iLuminate: Dancers arrive in Stamford to light up the stage

September 4, 2018

What is a young man to do when all that he loves has been whisked into another world that is locked and protected and seemingly impenetrable? He better start dancing and ask for the help of a few friends.

In the nearly 10 years since its inception, iLuminate, the entertainment company that this week will bring this tale to the Palace Theatre in Stamford, have combined high tech with talented performers who use light and sound to tell their stories.

In “Artist of Light,” a group of 20-somethings head out for a fun night on the town - one full of dance, music and magic. Things get rough when one of the dancers, Jacob, reveals the power of his magic paintbrush. He watches as it is stolen by another player in the crew, Darius, who takes off with Ali, who only has eyes for Jacob.

Featuring some of today’s top songs, the show features an array of dance styles, along with eye-catching visual design. Audience participation is crucial, by the way, in allowing our hero to crack the code into the other world.

Palace Theatre, 61 Atlantic St., Stamford. Friday, Sept. 14, 8 p.m. $42 to $19.80. 203-325-4466palacestamford.org
