April 22, 2000

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Pepperdine University basketball player Derrick Anderson was wounded early Saturday in what police said was a drive-by shooting.

Anderson was riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle shortly after midnight when a bullet went through his arm and into his chest, Sgt. John Cordova said.

Anderson was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and listed in stable condition, police said. No other details were available.

The 21-year-old player transferred from Nevada and sat out last season at Pepperdine.
