Finley, Abbott, Gallagher Offered Salary Arbitration
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Pitchers Jim Abbott and Chuck Finley and outfielder Dave Gallagher were offered salary arbitration Thursday by the California Angels.
They have until Dec. 19 to accept or reject the offers and may negotiate with California through Jan. 8.
The Angels agreed to minor-league contracts with pitcher Scott Sanderson and first baseman Mike Aldrete. Each would get $200,000 contracts for making the team. Sanderson could earn $325,000 more in bonuses and Aldrete could make $125,000 more.
The Angels did not offer arbitration to catcher Greg Myers, infielders Tony Phillips and Rene Gonzales, and pitchers Bob Patterson, Mike Bielecki and John Habyan.
The players not offered arbitration can’t sign with the Angels again until May 1. Other teams can sign them starting Friday without having to give up draft picks as compensation.
