The Lake House competes as Momentum finalist

The Lake House is one of this year’s five finalists in the annual Momentum Business Plan Competition for the chance to win $50,000 during the award ceremony Sept. 21.

The Lake House broke ground Aug. 24 and is still in the early stages of its construction. If everything goes according to plan, it will open July 1 as downtown Ludington’s newest waterfront events venue, located between the S.S. Badger dock and Harbor View Marina.

“It’s really exciting,” said Jeff White, who owns The Lake House along with his wife, Jean. He said winning the contest would be “significant,” especially for improvements to the venue’s kitchen.

The Lake House will have more than 5,800 square feet of open space to accommodate 325 guests with dining tables. The venue will have an outdoor patio and balcony to take advantage of its lakeside location and views of the pier, lighthouse, sunsets and the S.S. Badger departing and arriving. The Lake House will be able to host many large events, but it will be especially designed for wedding ceremonies and receptions...
