August 11, 2018

A young child died after being struck by a car in the parking lot of Hotel Rome Tuesday.

A 3-year old girl from Illinois died from injuries she sustained after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday in the Hotel Rome parking lot in Lake Delton, according to a press release from the Lake Delton Police Department.

The Dells-Delton EMS and Lake Delton Police Department responded to the call for assistance at the Mount Olympus property where hotel workers and bystanders were performing CPR and first aid on the child.

The girl was then taken to the Baraboo-Wisconsin Dells Regional Airport where she was evacuated by a medical flight to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, where she died that evening.

The cause of the accident, which occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, is still under investigation by the Lake Delton Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction Unit.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident.
