Juneau man sentenced for 2017 burglaries

JUNEAU — A 33-year-old Juneau man will serve the next six years in prison for taking items out of Juneau garages and apartments during the summer of 2017.

Martin Perez pleaded no contest to two counts of burglary to a building or dwelling on Thursday. Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Steven Bauer accepted the plea and dismissed but read into record two additional pleas. Bauer sentenced Perez to the six years in prison and seven years of an extended sentence. In addition, Perez must pay restitution and court costs.

According to the criminal complaint, Juneau Police responded to reports in the city of Juneau during the summer of 2017 about burglaries to apartments and garages. Perez had stolen the items and money and took many of the items to a pawn shop. Police became aware of Perez being involved after items were taken to a pawn shop by his girlfriend.

Stolen items were found in his vehicle and apartment. According to the criminal complaint, Perez had said he had bought the items from someone he did not know.
