TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ An Arizona technology trade group is launching a magazine to inform readers about the state's high-tech industries and its work force.

TechConnect, which is set to starting rolling off the presses in February, will also promote Arizona as a good place to do business. Plans call for TechConnect to be published three times a year, with subsequent 2004 issues planned for June and September.

``It's really to showcase the tech assets of the whole state,'' said Todd Bankofier, president of the Arizona Technology Council, a nonprofit trade group representing more than 450 Arizona companies.

The technology council is launching the magazine in partnership with the Arizona Department of Commerce and the Southern Arizona Tech Council.

TechConnect will be distributed free through the tech councils and other economic-development groups and outside Arizona through mailings and events like trade shows, said Kathy Sacks, vice president of marketing and communications for the Arizona Technology Council and TechConnect publisher.

``They'll use this as a component of their marketing, to attract businesses,'' Sacks said.

The magazine also might be distributed through local business media publications, she said.
