ABC Plays Chess with ‘Roseanne,’ ‘Grace,’ ‘Ellen’
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ ABC’s women are on the move.
The network announced new times Monday for ``Roseanne,″ ``Ellen″ and ``Grace Under Fire.″
Beginning March 29, ``Roseanne″ will move from 9 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST Wednesday. Ellen will move into the 8:30 p.m. slot, followed by ``Grace″ at 9 p.m.
ABC said Monday it wants to give ``Grace″ the opportunity to anchor a competitive hour. The series ranks fourth so far for the season, while the once-invincible leader ``Roseanne″ has taken a dip to No. 9.
A new sitcom will add a male voice to the evening: ``Bringing Up Jack,″ starring comedian Jack Gallagher, begins airing Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m., after a March 28 preview.
In a further ABC sitcom shakeup, ``Sister, Sister″ will move from Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. to Friday, replacing ``Boy Meets World″ until May, when ``Boy″ returns with new episodes.
``All-American Girl,″ now airing Wednesdays, completes its first season’s run March 15. ABC said it a statement that it’s a ``strong candidate″ for renewal.
