Police: Rockland man surrenders after 2-hour standoff
ROCKLAND, Maine (AP) — Police in Rockland, Maine, say a standoff ended with the suspect surrendering and no one getting hurt.
Police say the state police tactical team was deployed before 34-year-old Joshua Ellis surrendered Saturday evening.
The incident started when police tried to arrest Ellis for failing to report to a correctional facility to serve a sentence for prior crimes. With police in pursuit, he sped away, drove home, and refused to leave.
He was being held Sunday at the Knox County Jail where he faces multiple charges, including creating a police standoff. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
