Travel tip: September is a great time to visit New Orleans
Plenty of folks pick New Orleans for a spring vacation -- think Mardi Gras, the Jazz and Heritage Festival or just spring break itself.
Vacationidea.com says the Big Easy is also a great place for a September getaway.
Early fall won’t be quite as steamy as July or August -- think an average of 88 degrees, rather than 92 -- and the regular afternoon summer thunderstorms will have waned.
The French Quarter, Garden District and above-ground cemeteries are worth seeing any time of the year, and just because it isn’t Mardi Gras doesn’t mean the city will be quiet.
There’s always a party on Bourbon Street.
Special September happenings include a Burlesque Festival, and for all you food and beer-lovers, the National Fried Chicken Fest, the Chef’s Taste Challenge and NOLA on Tap.
