NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices are lower in early Wall Street trading. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 41 points. On the New York Stock Exchange, losers hold a 5-to-4 advantage over gainers.

The Nasdaq Composite Index has lost 33 points and the Standard & Poor's 500 Stock Index is down five points.

Some rumblings of lingering trouble in the high-tech sector are likely to keep investors cautious today.

Shares of Microsoft were lower in extra-hours trading after the software giant warned of revenue and profit weakness in the current quarter.

Gateway also pointed to ongoing weakness.

And the Swedish cell phone maker Ericsson reported a big loss in the second-quarter.

Elsewhere, DaimlerChrysler posted a second-quarter operating profit, sending its shares higher in European trading.

On the economic calendar, the Treasury reports on the federal budget surplus later today.
