St. Joe grad Torlone to be honored at game Saturday
HUNTINGTON — Huntington St. Joe will honor 1976 graduate and local businessman Sid Torlone at its boys basketball game with Clarksburg Notre Dame on Saturday.
A longtime basketball official and owner of G.D. Ritzy’s restaurant, Torlone will conduct a ceremonial jump ball before the game begins at 1:30 p.m.
In April, Torlone was injured at his restaurant when he was attacked allegedly by a former employee. Torlone was hospitalized for several weeks and participated in physical rehabilitation to recover from his injuries.
“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a while and Saturday is a good time for us to honor Sid,” Irish coach Ross Scaggs said. “Everyone knows and loves Sid and he means so much to our school and the community.”
