LOGAN, Utah (AP) _ Frank Dolce passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as Utah broke open a close game and ran away from Utah State 42-18 on Saturday in a game marking the 100th anniversary at the two schools.

Dolce passed for 376 yards, completing 25 of 42 passes for the Runnin’ Utes (1-1), who led the Aggies (0-2) only 20-18 before pulling away in the final period.

Dolce connected with Sean Williams for 47 yards on a third-and-9 play to start the Utes’ ambush. On the next play, Dolce found running back Steve Abrams, who had earlier scored on a 45-yard pass, wide open from 22 yards with 13:35 to play.

Henry Lusk made a diving catch for a 35-yard gain to set up the next Utah score, which came on Dolce’s 1-yard plunge with 9:35 left in the game. Mark Swanson capped the Utes’ scoring blitz with a 46-yard interception return with 4:05 left.

The Aggies led 12-11 at halftime after field goals of 24 and 42 yards by Sean Jones and a 2-yard run by Tai Gordon.

Anthony Calvillo, who replaced Aggie quarterback Greg Angelovic in the second quarter, threw for 219 yards and one touchdown. He completed 19 of 34 passes but had three intercepted.
