FBI, police search home in missing girl case
MILAN, Tenn. (AP) — FBI agents and police in Tennessee have searched a home in connection to a girl who went missing in 1996.
Milan Police Chief Bobby Sellars told The Jackson Sun that he asked the FBI to help with the case because it has technology that his agency doesn’t have access to. He says he hopes that advances in technology will yield some evidence in the 22-year-old case.
Authorities searched the home where 14-year-old Cayce Lynn McDaniel lived before she disappeared after attending a back-to-school party. Police reports say the person who drove her home saw her go into the house.
The girl’s mother, Cindy McDaniel, told investigators she came home to find her back door open and a television on but her daughter missing.
Investigators took bagged items big and small from the home on Wednesday.
