Ex-Oklahoma sheriff’s lieutenant sentenced for stealing meth

August 3, 2019

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A former Oklahoma narcotics supervisor has been sentenced to six months in prison for stealing methamphetamine that had been seized by law enforcement.

Court records show 48-year-old former Mayes County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Alan Mull of Pryor was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty in April to charges of tampering with evidence and acquiring drugs by fraud or deception.

Mull admitted in a plea agreement that he took the meth from evidence envelopes before they were booked into the property room and used the drug himself up to twice a day.

Prosecutors say the evidence envelopes, drug paraphernalia and meth were found July 3, 2018, in Mull’s home and at his workplace. He was later fired by the sheriff’s office.
