Odessa police say person dies after officers open fire
ODESSA, Texas (AP) — Police in the West Texas city of Odessa say a person who an initial investigation indicates pointed a firearm at three officers died after they opened fire.
Police said the officers encountered the person Sunday evening while responding to several calls about shots being fired.
Police say the person refused to comply with officers’ demands. Police say an Initial investigation indicates the person pointed a firearm at three officers. The officers then shot at the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The person who was killed has not been identified.
Police say the Texas Rangers are investigating.
