Arnold Oelke Sr., 87, Fall River
Arnold W. Oelke Sr., 87, Fall River, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at Randolph Health Services in Randolph.
He was born Oct. 8, 1931, to William and Anna (Hall) Oelke in Neshkoro. He was married to Mabel Erdmann on Dec. 17, 1955, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus. Arnold farmed for many years in Fall River then worked at Terra Fertilizer. He co-owned Oelke Construction in Fall River where he worked right up to age 75, doing what he loved for so many years. Arnold was a Packers and Vikings fan and enjoyed shaking dice. He enjoyed sporting events and was a huge Fall River Pirates fan, especially basketball where he cheered on his loved ones. But most of all, Arnold loved time spent with his family, grandkids and his dog Pepper. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father and grandpa.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel of Fall River; three sons, Arnie and Gary (Jane) both of Fall River and Scott of Portage; one daughter, Cindy Eggert of Fall River; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gert (Jim) Berry of Rome, and Ruth (Charlie) Wilson of Sun Prairie; two brothers, Ervin (Betty) Oelke of Shorewood, Minnesota, and Hans (Arlene) Oelke of Columbus; an aunt, Emma Bennett of Fall River; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Frieda Meitner; and a son-in-law, Tom Eggert.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus. The Rev. Robert Wilke will officiate. Interment will be in Fall River Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Jensen Funeral & Cremation in Columbus and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association or Randolph Health Services and Assisted Living.
