T-birds host homecoming: Mohave hosts Flagstaff
BULLHEAD CITY — The T-birds will play at 7 tonight against the Flagstaff High School Eagles during Mohave High School’s homecoming football game.
Mohave will be competing in its first Arizona Interscholastic Association 4A Grand Canyon Region game of the season after beginning its season at 2-2 overall, while the Eagles are 1-3 overall, 0-1 in region this year.
“They run the ball very well,” said Mohave head coach Rudy Olvera by cell phone about the Eagles. “They come out of some straight sets and I-back formations, and they only throw the ball when (necessary).”
Olvera said Eagles 5-foot-11, 205-pound fullback “Luis Jaramillo looks like a grown man on film and he’s
only a sophomore.... And we’ll have our hands full with him.”
Eagles senior quarterback Henry Teagle is a “veteran, who has been around for a couple of years,” Olvera said.
REVISED STATS: T-birds senior running back Will Robinzine gained 215 yards on 16 carries with three TDs, according to Mohave’s statisticians following the T-birds’ 41-26 win against the Demons on Sept. 14. However, Olvera texted that Robinzine gained 278 yards on 27 carries with three TDs against Dysart. Steven Matthews, Thomas Nunn, Richard Ramirez, Oliver Liles and Sean Acosta are the offensive linemen who have helped Mohave run the ball well, Olvera added.
OLVERA EXTENDS INVITATIONS: “All youth organizations are always welcome to our games,” Olvera said.
