‘Art at Ives’: Juried fine art and crafts festival features live music, food and more
“Art at Ives,” a two-day festival featuring a wide variety of high-quality original artworks, food and live music, returns to Ives Concert Park in Danbury, Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2.
More than 60 artists from New England and beyond will show their creations. There will be every kind of artwork you can imagine — everything from paintings and mixed media pieces to earrings and wood furnishings.
The music will include a Saturday night concert by The Sherry Winston Band. Winston is a renowned flutist who has performed alongside stars such as Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Vanessa Williams, Sinbad and more. She’s also been featured in The New York Times. Winston says she’s excited to bring her band to the Ives stage.
Friends of the Ives, a nonprofit, is the organization behind this festival, now in its fourth year. Aside from the juried fine arts and crafts show, there will be art classes, demonstrations and children’s events. Ives Concert Park is on the westside campus of Western Connecticut State University. See the park’s website for the full schedule of “Art at Ives” events.
A one-day ticket to attend the art show for either day is $5. A ticket for Saturday night’s concert is $15 and provides entry to the art show on Saturday only. “Brush and Brunch,” where you can make a 2D decorative relief shape (a repoussé piece) takes place Sunday at Ives Concert Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by The Art Spot, tickets for Sunday admission to the art show plus “Brush and Brunch” are $36. Children under 16 are admitted free to the art show.
