White House chooses Antioch company to make tableware

May 4, 2015

ANTIOCH, Ill. (AP) — Anyone from Illinois visiting the White House who’s lucky enough to stay for dinner might just see something from back home: the tableware.

The Lake County News-Sun (http://trib.in/1JiNTmO ) reports that the Obama administration chose Pickard China of Antioch to produce the tableware for state dinners at the White House. The “Kailua Blue” state china was used last week when the Obamas hosted a dinner for the Japanese Prime Minister and his wife. First Lady Michelle Obama helped design the set.

The selection is just the latest for the 122-year-old company. It also designed tableware for Air Force One, Camp David, the United Nations, state mansions and embassies around the world.

Pickard also made china for the White House in 2009 for outgoing first lady Laura Bush.
