Revolution Re-Signs Key Player
FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) _ The New England Revolution have re-signed Ted Chronopoulos, their third leading scorer last season, to a multiyear contract Wednesday.
Chronopoulos had five goals and two assists last season and played in the 2000 MLS All-Star game. The team was 12-8-5 with him in the lineup and 1-5-1 without him.
He has been with the team since its inception in 1996. He was also an All-Star in 1997 and has played one game for the U.S. national team.
``Ted Chronopoulos was a crucial part of our success last year,″ coach Fernando Clavijo said. ``His return is an important step for us to challenge for the 2001 MLS Cup.″
