LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Julian Hammond scored a career-high 13 points as Loyola Marymount opened its season with an 83-51 rout of Seattle on Saturday night.

The Lions scored 15 of the first 17 points on their way to a 40-11 halftime lead. Seattle (2-2) shot just 17 percent from the field in the first half.

Loyola twice led by 44 points, the last time at 66-22 on two free throws by Will Jones with 9:36 remaining.

Ben Ammerman equaled a career-high with nine rebounds for the Lions. Reserve center Peter Cornell scored 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting in his first Division I game.

Mark Stottlemyre was the only Seattle player in double figures with 12 points. For the game, the Chieftains shot just 30 percent and got outrebounded 55-41.
