Make A Wish

September 1, 2018

Editor, Daily Times:

On Saturday, Aug. 4, we held our annual charity golf event to benefit Make A Wish of Wisconsin. And once again it was a huge success, as we raised over $28,000 for MAW, enough to help grant fives wishes for children/families who are suffering from major health issues.

My first thanks has to go to the Szymczak family from Racine. Denise and John (mom and dad), Josh and Holly (both Wish kids), spent the whole day with us and we were happy to have them there. Josh and Holly both suffer from rare Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 2S. They are the first two people ever diagnosed with this type of MD in the U.S., and are two of only 20 cases known worldwide today. This is the reason we host this event annually — to help these families and families like theirs. I’s also like to thank Kelsey Rice from Make A Wish of Wisconsin for helping us out again and for coming to our event and speaking about MAW and what they do for hundreds of families every year.

Thanks to all of our volunteers: Megan, Chip, Sara, Mari, Peyton, Tony, Sue Raymond, Jenny, Rob Edwards and the Kohls Cares team, Rob, Sherry, Darlene, David, Brooke, Madi, Vikki, Brenda Tom and Joe.
