GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN-PAYDAY

OGDEN, Utah _ Many government employees are trying to make ends meet during the partial government shutdown. Democratic U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette of Colorado said Thursday that she would not take her paycheck as long as federal workers were unpaid. U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, another Colorado Democrat, said his staff would offer free breakfasts and lunches to unpaid federal workers at his district office in suburban Denver starting Friday. USA BASKETBALL-INELIGIBLE PLAYER

MONTGOMERY, Ala. _ An Alabama judge has temporarily reinstated the eligibility of suspended girls prep basketball player Maori Davenport. Pike County Circuit Judge Sonny Reagan on Friday issued an order stopping the Alabama High School Athletic Association from disqualifying Davenport until the court rules on a complaint filed by the teen’s parents.
