Authorities: Car strikes sign, which falls on man, kills him
APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Southern California sheriff’s officials say an elderly woman drove onto a curb at a bank and crashed into a sign, causing it to fall onto a security guard and kill him.
The Daily Press of Victorville reports (http://bit.ly/1WRQtWp) the 55-year-old guard suffered head trauma and died at the scene Tuesday in Apple Valley.
San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Trish Hill says an 86-year-old woman in a Toyota Camry jumped a curb in the parking lot in front of the Bank of America branch.
No arrests have been made. Hill says the cause of the crash is under investigation, but it is believed to have been an accident.
The victim’s name was not released.
